Guided by the whakataukī: Poipoia te kākano kia puāwai, Wiremu reflects on how nurturing his skills and techniques, along with his dedication to art, has played a significant role in his hauora (well-being). Using fine lines and intricate details, Wiremu’s work explores themes of whakapapa, Māori pūrākau (stories), cultural values, and indigenous identity. It is a grassroots, artist-run, community-led arts space supported by TGTB Charitable Trust and Tāmaki Regeneration . We provide opportunities for artists of all ages and experience to present their art publicly, and engage our local community in Tāmaki with meaningful arts experiences. We believe the arts should be freely and easily accessible to everyone, and seek to remove barriers that may prevent access to and participation in the arts.
